New blogs need a mission statement of sorts and this blog won’t be any exception.
I described this blog in the tagline as a ‘mostly non-technical blog about thinking through data, reports, and operations in meaningful ways that make sense to people who don’t work with data, reports and operations‘. So let’s tackle the parts of that statement one item at a time.
By mostly non-technical, I mean that I don’t intend this to be a technical or how-to blog. That said, I reserve the right to go into these things if I think it helps demonstrate a point.
By thinking through data, reports in meaningful ways that make sense to people who don’t work with data, reports and operations, I mean that I hope to help people organize their thoughts in such a way that the output is useful to the non-technical users of information and operations. And conversely, help users of information and operations to approach problems with some sense of how to communicate their business needs to technical people.
Skill sets of technical and non-technical people can be widely different and the over-arching theme that I intend for this blog is to help both sides bridge the gap.
